Darby

A few people seem to have done that already!

That's not the WHO way, Westbury. You're meant to demand that he starts first game without having ever seen him play. Then when he doesn't play well in his first game, write him off and call him a waste of money.

I would rather get a fee for him in this window than lose him for nothing in the summer.

We really need to give Valencia a bit of time and some tlc. He's new to the league and, like anyone in new job, will respond better to support than negativity and criticism. When the crowd get behind someone like Abou the player can raise his game to new heights but the reverse is also true.

He's one of ours. Let's give him as much encouragement as we can .

How do you know which, if any, are players that the manager wanted and ones that he didn't?

Re: Have any of the team that started Tuesday done enough to start against Southampton?
We have had u21 matches etc he could have played in.
The main reason I suspect is that he was bought injured and no one wanted to admit that.
I have no problem in getting him right to play before starting him but it is heaping pressure & expectation on the lad.
The other issue is that there is a divide between some players that BFS wanted & others that the owners did. Or so it seems

Sven

you say that sam is making excuses saying valencia isnt match fit, then back that up by saying that its been two months since his last match.

Let's hope that Reid doesn't take his OG performance into Saturdays game!

Terrible OG, wasn't watching the ball, running blindly back towards his own goal total lack of awareness. Needs to raise his game and sign a new contract!

I also think it will be the same team as Palace. Assuming Kouyate continues in the same vein and Nolan gets fit, who will be sacrificed for the our Captain?

Re: Have any of the team that started Tuesday done enough to start against Southampton?
I noticed BFS playing down Valencia in his interview on the Official site as not being match fit blah blah blah.
It's now 2 months since he played his last World Cup match so you'd expect him to be ready to go.
He looked ok v Spurs but was more about adrenaline and being energetic late in the game. Didn't see Sheff Utd where he started and would like to see him after a few games to make any judgement as to whether it's about settling in rather than him being a slightly taller Savio or Maiga Mark 2.

Re: Have any of the team that started Tuesday done enough to start against Southampton?
I think we'll start with the team we took to Palace and at about 70 minutes Sakho will replace Vas and Valencia will replace Cole for the last 10 minutes. Maybe it will be the other way around with Sakho for Cole and Valencia for Vas. O'Brien will come on for the usual player with 'a niggle'.

It's not what I'd start with but after 3 seasons Allardyce rarely surprises us with a formation, does he?

I personally don't think Burke is quite up to the rigours of the Premiership just yet and as good as Poyet's performance was if Koyate plays better than he did against Palace I don't think Yaya Toure could displace him.

Re: Have any of the team that started Tuesday done enough to start against Southampton?
Will be the same side that best palace 100%. Sakho supposedly injured and no way did Valencia do enough in midweek to displace cole. Po yet will be on the bench

Re: Have any of the team that started Tuesday done enough to start against Southampton?
Poyet looked composed, one I would tip to exceed expectations, promising unless of course BFS doesn't play him.

I think Valencia just needs time to settle in. Reid needed a whole season to do it. Hopefully Enner won't take as long.
